Additional Giving Opportunities

Donate through your workplace giving campaign: Workplace giving programs allow you to deduct a portion of your pre-tax income from your paycheck to contribute to a non-profit organization.  Some employers will even match your gift!

If your employer offers workplace giving through the United Way or another program, you can designate BlueSkies as the recipient of your gift by writing in “BlueSkies for Children” on the pledge card.  Contact your human resources office for more information.

Make a gift of stock:  Gifts of stocks or bonds to BlueSkies allow you to avoid the capital gains taxes that would be due if the securities were sold, and allow you to receive a tax deduction for the full market value of the securities at the time the gift is made.  

Making a gift of stocks or bonds to BlueSkies is simple.  To begin, ask your broker to contact BlueSkies’ broker Richard Kane at Wachovia Securities, at (415) 291-1200 and tell him that you would like to transfer securities to BlueSkies for Children, account number #1212-45744.

We also request that you contact the Director of Development at BlueSkies, to inform us of the securities being transferred and any instructions regarding use of the gift.  The Development Director can be reached at 510.261.1076.  Please provide us with your name, the date of the transfer, the stock name, and the number of shares so that we may properly acknowledge your donation.

Shop with scrip, e-Scrip and Schoolpop:  Local merchants will rebate a percentage of purchases to BlueSkies. Contact us at 510.261.1076 to purchase paper scrip for your favorite stores, like Berkeley Bowl and Farmer Joe’s Produce and Market.

Shop with eScrip's merchant partners and earn money for BlueSkies each time you shop! Simply sign up and shop with participating merchants. When you register your Safeway Club card with eScrip, BlueSkies benefits every time you buy Groceries. Register your Chevron Card, and BlueSkies benefits every time you fill up the tank. Register with Schoolpop, shop at any of their more than 300 online, store and catalog merchants, and a percentage of each purchase will benefit BlueSkies--all at no cost to you.  For example, shop at Amazon.com via SchoolPop and BlueSkies gets 3%. It's a win-win for you and BlueSkies!

Get involved: BlueSkies parents organize a raffle and auction each spring to raise money for scholarships, and it is a great way to meet other families who care about children.  We also have volunteer opportunities for other fundraising projects throughout the year.  For more information, contact the Development Director at 510.261.1076.
