1. What are the income sources of BlueSkies?

BlueSkies is a private nonprofit (501(c)3) organization with diverse income sources.  BlueSkies receives no public funding for children's enrollment, and the children's program relies on tuition to cover the full cost of care for the children.  Gifts from individual donors and private foundations support a scholarship fund for the children's program, which enables us to offer tuition assistance to approximately 12% of the families currently enrolled in BlueSkies.

2. Why does BlueSkies ask for donations?
BlueSkies seeks to serve all children, families, and teachers, regardless of ability to pay. Fundraising supports the scholarship fund for children, facilities renewal, adult education, and improvements to staff compensation.

3. Why does BlueSkies need donations if fees for enrollment in the children’s program cover the full cost of care?
Although full tuition for enrollment in the children’s program reflects the full cost of children’s care, it still does not pay the full cost of operating the program—because full tuition does not include the cost of tuition reductions for those families who cannot pay the full fees.

Donations to the BlueSkies scholarship fund support our efforts to offer need-based tuition assistance to as many families as possible, while still maintaining a balanced budget and operating reserve fund, as well as providing our teachers with living wages that correspond to the value we place on their work.
