BlueSkies for Children is recognized as one of best childcare programs in the Bay Area and the only center in Oakland accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Our vision is to firmly establish BlueSkies as a model childcare center and a resource for families, the community and the field of Early Care and Education (ECE) far into the future. 

Creating Futures: Raising the Bar for Early Care and Education capital campaign will help accomplish our vision by:

  • Renovating our facilities, in order to make our school accessible to people of all physical abilities and to expand and improve the effectiveness of our classrooms, play yards, kitchen and offices; and
  • Building the Anne and Richard Copenhagen Endowment for Scholarships, so we can provide need-based tuition subsidies to more families and demonstrate that our model works for children across the socio-economic spectrum.



Our goal is to raise $1.7 million  for facility renovations and the scholarship endowment. 

Thanks to the generous gifts of The Bernard E. and Alba Witkin Foundation, The Wayne and Gladys Valley Foundation, Alameda County First Five, alumni, parents, grandparents, Board members, staff and friends, we have raised over $1.25 Million for the campaign. This support has enabled us to almost fully fund Phases 1 and 2 of the renovation project and contribute to the scholarship endowment. New gifts will allow us to fully fund the renovations and more than double our scholarship endowment.
